At Thomaston Place Auction Galleries, we strive to offer our customers professional, discrete answers on the value of their possessions so they can make quality informed decisions. A common misconception is that you will need to consign the item to one of our auctions if we provide an appraisal, absolutely not the case! We offer appraisals for insurance coverage, equitable division of gifts to heirs, information prior to selling or gifting to institutions or non-profits, and auction consignments
The easiest and fastest way for us to evaluate your items is through email. It is helpful if you can provide photos, dimensions, and as much information that you know about the history of the item. The more we know, the more accurate our evaluation can be.
For over 45 years company founder Kaja Veilleux has been opening his doors to the public every week for free walk in evaluations. Joined 25 years ago by John Bottero, they see dozens of people each week. That’s over 70 years of experience working for you, supported by a staff of experts and the most current data of prices realized for fine art and antiques from all over the world.
That’s right, we still make house calls! Either Kaja Veilleux or John Bottero will come to your location and do a free verbal walk-through evaluation of your items. We have seen it all: from luxury Manhattan condos to the barns and attics of rural New England. We will roll up our sleeves and make sure that you understand what you have. We don’t charge for this service, it is part of our commitment to ensure that you understand the value of your possessions.
If your insurance company, or probate court requires you to have a formal written appraisal, we can provide this service for you as well. This is a paid service and the appraiser, accompanied by a recording assistant, will come to your location and document a single item or a line-by-line, room-by-room appraisal of your items. While we are not real estate appraisers, we can appraise everything else from automobiles to jewelry.
